You wouldn't think mixing sexy-times with zombies would make for a good read, but there's something about the high stakes and intensity of an apocalyptic setting that has reader's captivated.
Okay, so when I say "reader's", you can assume I mean me. Me. I'm captivated. The first time I heard of The Walking Dead was in The Closer You Come by Gena Showalter. Brook, the heroine, believes wholeheartedly that at some stage in the future, humanity is going to be faced by zombies. She makes Jase, the hero, binge watch The Walking Dead and teach her how to fight with a sword.
You can imagine the puzzled frown between my eyebrows as I was reading this. Until I Googled the show and binge watched it myself.
From here, I spiralled down the proverbial rabbit hole with Kylie Scott's Flesh, Meghan March's Flash Bang, and Kit Rocha's Beyond Shame.
I like to think about how I would survive, how strong I could become, and what would become of humanity (those that survive, of course). And the idea of setting a novel in a post-apocalyptic world is one I can't ignore. So, I am currently working on a four-book series set after an unknown virus has annihilated the world as we know it.
The Virus didn’t ever get a scientific name. The spread so insidious that those who could have named it – cured it – had already succumbed to it. Civilisation has fallen, and only the strong will survive.
Sounds dramatic, right? Don't worry, there'll still be plenty of steamy romance... after all, if the reality is you could die tomorrow, I say you should take pleasure in today *wink*
